DJVU converter - online and free
Step 2 - Convert your files to
Or choose a different format
A DJVU file is a compressed image for that was developed by AT&T. It was originally developed in 1998 and the format has gone through many iterations before in 2005 AT&T finally settled on the format we know and use today. The file itself contains a scanned document comprising of media or text. The compression means that it is up to 10 times smaller than a JPEG and so is typically used by those who are involved in graphics and want to display high quality posters, books, magazines or pages that are in physical print form but who want to publish these to the web digitally. The reason DJVU files are so much smaller than JPG files is that this format is able to split images away into separate images and compress each of those individually. To open a DJVU file you will need a specific program to do that. Sumatara PDF is one such example, and is free, whilst DjVulibre will also work.
